College of Health Sciences Raises Funds for Development Projects

The College of Health Sciences has organised a fundraising event at the Kempinski Hotel to raise funds to undertake development projects in the College.

Welcoming guests to the event, the Chairperson of the College Fundraising Committee, Professor Angela Ofori-Atta reiterated the need for the College diversify its sources of funds to complement existing ones.  She added that the aim for organising the event was to raise funds to refurbish the College Library at the Korle-Bu Campus to befit its status and encouraged all the invited guests to donate generously for a good cause.

The Senior Librarian at the College Library, Mrs. Theodosia Adanu made a presentation on the current state of the Library and indicated that there was the need for an urgent action to refurbish the Library for the use of staff and students. She indicated that after the proposed refurbishment, the Library will have augmented the reading space, reading carrels interspersed with soft seating, a quiet reading area, discussion areas, relevant up-to date textbooks, online resources among others.

Mrs. Adanu mentioned that the estimated cost of the works to be undertaken in the Library was GH₵1.7m (One million and seven hundred thousand Ghana cedis).  She called for the support and co-operation of all stakeholders to make the dream a reality.

The Provost of the College, Rev. Prof. Patrick F. Ayeh-Kumi was grateful to the guests who were able to honour the invitation.  He indicated that the College Library does not serve only staff and students of the College but other health training institutions on the KorleBu Teaching Hospital compound.  The Provost assured guests that funds donated will be used judiciously for the intended purpose.

The fundraising event yielded a total of GH₵1.720 million,  including pledges.
